Hello Friends!

It’s time to start a new book again! The quest for a great opening and first line are always challenging for me. I thought it would be fun to hear some of your favorite first lines for inspiration, and it might be helpful to go back and look at the first line (or more) of my other novels in the Coastal Heart Series.

Magnolia Storms

Fear and loss snaked around Magnolia Marovich’s heart like they always did when she studied the satellite images on the three computer screens in front of her. Not again. The waters should be calming down in November, not churning up a monster.

Falling for Grace

It was finally over.
Like some kind of cruel joke, mile after mile of long rays of Florida sunlight splashed across the steering wheel of the Toyota Camry, highlighting Grace Logan’s empty ring finger.

The Art of Rivers

Love, like art, took on different forms with each creator. Rivers Sullivan quickened her pace to a skip, her ruffled skirt bouncing in the muggy Memphis breeze.

Star Rising

One year of sobriety, already. Star Youngblood fished the chip that marked the milestone from her jacket pocket.

For the Love of Joy

Weddings—the best of times, the worst of times, depending on one’s vantage point. In his own case, marriage had been a few sandwiches short of a picnic.

Healing Skye

Almost to the Gulf. Almost to the part of the world she’d left behind nearly a decade ago.

Holding On to Hope

Could loving someone physically hurt? It must be possible. Because anguish seared Caleb Donnelly’s chest, scorching his heart like a white-hot flame. And Caleb knew pain—had an intimate relationship with it after years of surgeries, skin grafts, and laser treatments.

So there we have it! All the openings in the Coastal Heart Series so far. I’m planning to call my next book Until April, and I’ve got a lot of work to do. Pray for me to follow God’s leading. 🙂

Have you read any great novel openings or first lines lately?

Leave a comment, and let me know. Also I’d be honored to hear any news or prayer requests for you and your family too.

Blessings in Him,

Janet
